BLOODSTONE is a dark green translucent chalcedony. The green color results from densely packed mossy crystal growths called dendrites. Speckled through out the lovely green color are tiny spots of red jasper which resemble drops of blood from which the stone gets its name. Bloodstone has been popular as a semi-precious gemstone for thousands of years and many legends are associated with it. Bloodstone is also a birthstone for March.
