With a modern literal meaning of "midnight," the term witching hour refers to the time of day and night (12:00 a.m. or 12:00 p.m. is commonly speculated) when creatures such as witches, demons, and ghosts are thought to appear and to be at their most powerful and black magic to be most effective.

The witching hour from medieval times is the time believed that witches came out to do their "unholy" practices. The time ascribed to the witching hour was generally viewed after mid-night.  

According to some Roman Catholic traditions, this hour occurs at 3:00 a.m. when evil forces mock the Holy Trinity. It also says that it is the opposite of 3:00 p.m., the hour when Jesus Christ said "Father, Into Thy Hands, I Commend My Spirit" and died.

In Pagan Wicca, 3:00 a.m. is considered important because of its correlation to the Threefold Law and the Triple Goddess. ~ Wiki

For me personally, the Witching Hour is a time between Midnight & 3 am, where I draw upon a Moonless night, and look within to find my strengths and weakness and how to apply them in daily living.  it is also a Spiritual time when I may use left-handed techniques to inquire my darkness and exploration. The number 3 and its trinity are very important in my Witchcraeft and working and hold truth to many situation in my life.
